Who is responsible for corrections at Sachindex?
Christina Jung, Ansvarig för faktagranskning (emma.sandberg@sachindex.de, +46 8 525 030 66), leads the independent standards desk that oversees all corrections at Sachindex. The desk operates under Sachindex Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry) with registered office at Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000. Any decision to correct, update or retract an article is taken by this desk in consultation with Chefredaktör Daniel Winter, who retains final authority on publication decisions. Readers can learn more about our editorial hierarchy on the Our Team page and about our verification standards on the Fact‑Checking Policy page.
The purpose of this corrections policy is to give readers a clear, predictable process for reporting errors and to explain how Sachindex investigates, admits and fixes mistakes. We treat accuracy as a non‑negotiable cornerstone of trustworthy journalism and we are publicly accountable for every correction we publish.
How do I report an error?
Send details of the suspected error to corrections@sachindex.de. Include the exact article URL, the passage you believe is wrong, the correct information and your source if available. The standards desk aims to acknowledge every report within one business day and to complete its review within three business days.
If you prefer not to use email, you can also submit a report through the general contact form at Contact or by calling the Swedish editorial line on +49 30 577 013 49. Please mark your message “Correction request” to ensure it reaches the right team quickly. For urgent errors that could cause significant public harm, you may escalate directly to Chefredaktör Daniel Winter (anders.lindqvist@sachindex.de) or by phone on +46 8 525 030 61.
What happens after an error is reported?
The standards desk, under Christina Jung, logs every report, checks the claim against original sources and determines whether an error of material fact has occurred. A material error is one that changes the meaning, interpretation or factual accuracy of a news story, headline, caption, graphic, video or other editorial element.
If the desk confirms a material error, the article is updated with the correct information. A correction note is appended at the bottom of the article, clearly stating what was wrong, what the correct fact is and the date of the correction. The original error is never silently removed; readers can see exactly what changed. For minor errors such as a typographical slip that does not affect meaning, the desk may fix the text and note the change only in an internal record; readers can request a summary of such minor corrections by emailing corrections@sachindex.de.
Our detailed handling process is set out in the Editorial Policy. If you are dissatisfied with the outcome, you have the right to appeal to Chefredaktör Daniel Winter, who will issue a final decision. The full escalation path is described in the Complaints Procedure.
How are corrections displayed?
Corrections are displayed as a distinct, clearly labelled note directly after the article text. The note begins with “Correction [date]:” and explains the nature of the error and the correct information. If the correction alters the headline, the updated headline is used and the correction note mentions that the headline was changed.
Sachindex does not use ambiguous language such as “updated” or “revised” without also specifying that it was a correction. Sponsored or commercially influenced content is corrected by the same process; the correction note is placed immediately above the disclosure line for that piece. All corrected articles remain publicly accessible with the note permanently attached.
Our commitments
- We will acknowledge every error report within one business day and complete a full review within three business days.
- We will publish a correction note for every confirmed material error, clearly describing the mistake and the correct fact.
- We will never silently alter a published article that has been corrected; the original error remains visible to readers in the correction note.
- We will treat every report equally, regardless of the source, and will not require a subscription or payment to file a correction.
- We will review this corrections policy annually and update it publicly whenever we make substantive changes to our process.
